Nottingham Forest Personalised Football Diary
Unique Diary Gifts for Forest Fans!
Nottingham Forest FC formed in 1865, but endured a difficult time and disappointing results until the 1950s.The team had faced financial problems, but ironically, the Second World War would save the club from folding. The football league was suspended and it afforded Forest enough time to pay back debt.
Nottingham Forest became incredibly successful in the 1970s, following the appointment of Brian Clough as manager. In addition to the triumphs of the team in this era, Forest are also famous for pioneering many features of football matches. They were the first team to wear shin pads, the first club to use floodlights, and they played the first match that used goal nets and a referee’s whistle. Forest were also the first side to pay a £1 million transfer fee, when the club purchased Trevor Francis from Birmingham City in 1979.
Our Personalised Nottingham Forest Diaries feature fascinating match reports on some of the best games that the club has played over the past century. Starting from the month of your choice, these A5 organisers are a perfect gift all-year round and a great choice for any Forest fan.
Diary Highlights
These Personalised Nottingham Forest Diaries feature the promotion-clinching encounter with Yeovil Town in 2008 and a selection of exciting games from three magnificent trophy wins.
In 1959, the club won their second FA Cup by beating Luton Town in the final and our A5 Diary focuses upon two of the best matches from the cup campaign. In February, Forest thrashed Birmingham City 0-5 in the fifth round and then in the quarter-finals, Forest beat Bolton Wanderers 2-1.These convincing wins were essential to the team‘s run, as they provided the momentum to carry the side through the last few rounds
In 1978, Nottingham Forest FC took on a formidable Liverpool side in the final of the League Cup. A stalemate had forced a replay and Forest would clinch the match 1-0. At the end of the season, Nottingham Forest consolidated the cup victory with the First Division title. This win guaranteed the team a place in the European Cup. Clough took up the continental challenge and led the club to history.
The Diary Gift features match reports from five games of the stunning 1978/1979 European run, which ended with the team lifting the trophy. Forest drew Liverpool FC in the very first round. The Reds were beaten again by Forest, who then put in a terrific defensive display at Anfield. Forest shut Liverpool out in a 0-0 draw and won the tie 2-0 on aggregate. The team went on to beat AEK Athens in the second round and then again drew a second leg away - this time to Grasshopers Zurich - to reach the semi-finals. Playing at home in the first leg and travelling away with a lead seemed to suit Nottingham Forest and the trend continued in the semi-finals. A 1-0 win away to Cologne meant that Forest were the first club in the history of the competition to reach the final following a second leg win away from home. After all the work the team had put in to reach this stage, a comfortable 1-0 win against Swedish side Malmo FF was a fitting reward.
