Burnley Personalised Football Calendar
A Great Gift Idea For Burnley FC Fans!
Burnley FC, a side that has won every domestic honour apart from the League Cup, actually started out as a rugby team! The Clarets turned into a football club in 1882 and over a hundred years later, they became only the second team to win all four English football division titles. With huge domestic and European success in the sixties and recent FA Cup fame against Liverpool FC, there has been a whole host of brilliant moments for Burnley fans to savour.
A selection of these club highlights feature in our terrific Personalised Burnley Calendars. We have dug through newspaper archives to find twelve of the best Burnley FC match reports from the past century, written by respected journalists who watched all of the action unfold in person. Combining these articles in a unique A3 Calendar that can start from the month of your choice, these gifts are sure to entertain fans of the Clarets all year long!
Calendar Features
A wide variety of matches are incorporated in these Burnley FC Calendars, such as league titles, promotion and European encounters.
We also feature a selection of reports on the club’s FA Cup success. Just months before the Great War in 1914, King George V presented Burnley with their first and only FA Cup trophy. Despite this triumph, the Clarets have perhaps become more well known in recent years for another featured FA Cup win. In 2005, Burnley knocked out the seven-time champions, Liverpool FC. Liverpool went on to a legendary Champions League victory that year, but Burnley’s shock win has also remained famous and is often still talked about. The match is recounted in the A3 Calendar.
Another exciting FA Cup fixture included in this popular Calendar Gift is the Clarets’ home win against Manchester City in 1962. Burnley went goal crazy, hitting six past City’s reserve goalkeeper Harry Dowd in an electrifying match that ended 6-3. Harry Dowd would endure further Burnley heartache later in the week, as he let seven goals past him in a meeting with the Burnley FC reserves.
Other Football Calendar highlights include the Clarets becoming League One champions back in 1921 and there are also stories of the club’s domestic success and trips into Europe during the successful 1960s. The most recent promotion to the top flight is also covered, as our Personalised Calendar reminisces upon the 2-1 Burnley win against Scunthorpe from the vintage 1999-2000 season.
